Byzantine defeat in Italy
The lord of the Normans, Robert Guiscard, met the Byzantine host at Naples, and crushed the Greek infantry with his knights, so much that they say a ten thousand Greek corpses filled the battlefield. As a result, the Greek commanders abandoned the lands of the Duchy of Benevento, and have now taken refuge in Apulia.

Re: Byzantine defeat in Italy
Upon the eve of defeat, the Roman commander gives the order to send all troops aboard ship and sail back to Greece. What the Emperor in Constantinople will think of this act is as of yet unclear.
