Sailing for Apulia
It has been decreed by the Roman Emperor that the province of Apulia must not be lost to the Norman aggressors, and thus, an army sets sail from Greece to make landfall at Bari, heart of Apulia.
Four thousand troops and several Dromonoi warships are sent for this purpose. The powerful Dromon warship make up the bulk of the Roman navy, an improvement upon the ancient designs employed by our ancestors in the Mediterranean, it is equipped with both sails and oars, up to 50 marines armed with long spears and bows, and even larger weapons such as the Ballistae and Mangonel catapults. There are stories that these ships are like wild dragons that spew fire when they are enraged.
